"Lakme Fashion Week" is India's most prestigious fashion and trade event. An event where creativity and imagination is presented in form of masterpieces for fashion followers. Lakme Fashion Week is a platform for all degrees of Fashion Designers be it Known, Emerging or Evolving! What could be a better occasion to experience meliorating fashion industry than attending this howling event!
It all began with a facebook message with the subject "Invitation "from my amigo 'Zuilee'. The invite made me to mesmerize the days I devoted to my last company i.e.Ogaan where periodically I used to interact with her regarding her latest collection but this time the relation switched from co-workers to friends. She is not only an amazing fashion designer but also a pleasant human being. There was no point to miss her show, so I with my friend Monica Murthy reached the venue as per the schedule and witnessed the various fashion moments taking place at the ramp. The show impressed us as it was very clear to make out that the "Emerging Designers" played well with their imagination on Day 2 at Lakme Fashion Week, Winter/Festive 2011.

Zuilee’s handcrafted touches with an organic look had an appeal and the charm of mixed traditional and contemporary styling. The collection had a modern appeal with a hint of India in its inspiration. Ikat Silk and Khadi Muslins were used in different colors like Red, Black, Grey and Indigo made the ambience soulful. Fine detailing like Pleated Texture, Kasuti Embroidery, Origami and Ikat were hard to get unnoticed by the fashion lovers. Juilee Bendkhale presented her collection in high spirits for global women and guaranteed to surprise fashion lovers every time with her collection.
The afternoon was followed by another wondrous show by Pallavi Goenka named "Meler". The togetherness of countries, fabrics, designs and craftsmanship or better termed as ''Oneness'' was showcased on ramp with majestic designs. Regal palette of colors like Cranberry, Plum, Peach, Amethyst, Carmine, Deep Purple were used in fabrics like Georgette, Silk Voil, Kota, Egyptian Silk and Satin Silk leading to an attempt of combining different elements of this diversified world. Fashion lovers were astounded when Rageshwari walked the ramp in singing mode with the models. Rageshwari's "Come Back" performance made the fashion lovers to sing with her, in no time the ambience was under the spell of music and designs. The show was indeed a success.
Last but not the least; the afternoon was draped in Vaishali Shandangule's designs. She presented her exquisite collection in a graceful story of Indian tradition and modernity. Fabrics like Sheer Chanderi with Lush Paithani were a combination making a statement. Styling inspired by traditional sari, dhoti and much more amazed the spectators and made them to think.. "This is the ultimate wear". This series of emerging designers promised to the fashion lovers that there is a lot more to come in near future so better fasten your seat belts and get ready to take off soon..! The show was a triumph. Presence of Celebrities like Shaan and Suchitra Pillai made the show more memorable. We both had a dandy time there. What could have been a better return gift than a little conversation and a picture with Shaan!!
Cheers,
Samriddhi Srivastava.
